Owners of FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention Acquire Imaginarium

– Imaginarium includes Tampa Bay, Atlanta & Indiana Comic Conventions –

SALT LAKE CITY, November 18, 2021 – Abigail & Jeff Wright of Salt Lake City, Utah have announced that earlier this year, they acquired Imaginarium, operators of pop culture and fan conventions, including Tampa Bay Comic Convention, Indiana Comic Convention, Atlanta Comic Convention.

In early 2019 FanX welcomed new ownership to its ranks when Utah business executive Jeffrey Wright and his wife Abigail joined Dan Farr as co-owners. “When Dan Farr founded FanX, we knew that he had brought something really special to Utah,” said Abbey Wright. “When the opportunity for us to partner with Dan arose, we jumped in with both feet and it’s become a big part of our life and something that we’ve really enjoyed as a family. After a few years of a successful partnership with Dan under our belts, we realized that producing one or two shows per year in Salt Lake just wasn’t enough for us to get our pop culture and comic convention fix.

Acquiring the Imaginarium portfolio of shows was the perfect opportunity to increase our footprint across the country and do more of what we love to do. We look forward to carrying on the legacy of high-quality comic conventions that Imaginarium has already created and bring the ultimate fan experiences that we’ve created in Salt Lake to these new markets.”

Dan Farr, FanX Salt Lake Comic Convention Founder, and Show Producer, who leads the team said, “One of our greatest joys is creating epic moments and helping fans live their pop culture dreams. As we got to know the team at Imaginarium it quickly became apparent that we have a lot of synergies and could collaborate easily to overcome some of the challenges that have been thrown at everybody over the last year-and-a-half. By acquiring Imaginarium, we can leverage our collective genius and expertise that will enable us to attract some of the premier events and guests that our fans want and that will provide even more magic moments for years to come.”

FanX hosted its first event in September 2013 and quickly became one of the fastest-growing and most innovative, independently owned fan conventions in the country. Since 2013 FanX has set a number of industry records, including becoming the largest first-time comic convention and quickly establishing itself as the third-largest comic convention per capita with an average attendance of more than 125,000 fans.

Over the course of its history, FanX has hosted 13 events, including two per year from 2014–2017. In 2015 FanX set a Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people dressed as comic book characters. In April 2014 Utah Governor Gary Herbert issued a proclamation declaring April 17, 2014, as FanX Hero’s Day, and during that show, the late Stan Lee dubbed FanX the greatest fan convention in the world.
